Shenandoah National Park

The Shenandoah National Park is found in Virignia just a short car ride away from Washington D.C. It is a beautiful national park where people can go to run away from their busy everyday lives.  Waterfalls, camping sites, and vast forests can be found all through the park. It is home to thousands of animals and is teeming with vegetation. It consists of 200,000 acres of land and is open everyday and all day to the public. The oldest area of the park is over a billion years old and is part of the Blue Mountain Range. Europeans first discovered the park 300 years ago, but no one settled until a few years later. The park was established in December of 1935 and has been filled with visitors each year.  The park is a state treasure and is a very important cultural area to the people living in Virginia.
